When is the Best Time to Get Married?

Husband and wife holding hands on wedding day.Planning to get married? Check out our list of the top four wedding dates and one you should avoid:

Labor Day

The weekend of Labor Day is the most sought-after weekend for wedding events. The holiday is on the line between fall and summer. Like all holiday weekends, the bride and groom may marry on a Sunday without guests being concerned with working the next day. Because of that, the Sunday before Labor Day is the most sought-after of any holiday weekend to tie the knot.

Columbus Day Weekend

The month of October is the most sought-after month to get married—15% of all weddings happen in October. Columbus Day was also popular, as October 8th, (Saturday of that weekend) was the 3rd most sought-after date.

Veterans Day Weekend

While Autumn is the most sought-after season to get hitched, November is one of the least popular times to wed—only 6% of weddings happen in November. Getting married on Veterans Day Weekend is an excellent method of having that beautiful autumn wedding yet avoiding the most sought-after weekends of the year (mainly in the month of October).

October

You cannot go wrong choosing October for a wedding date. That month has everything you could ever desire in an Autumn wedding. It has nice weather, typically, changing leaves, and is the best time before the holidays begin usurping weekends and old man Winter brings snow and frigid weather to outdoor events. The Autumn colors, pumpkins galore, and more pleasant weather outside make it the top time to hold a wedding. Whether you’re preparing for a minimony, large wedding, or eloping – any day in the month of October is an outstanding time!

Which Holiday Should You Avoid Getting Married?

Thanksgiving Weekend

Like Christmas, most folks have specific Thanksgiving traditions that generally involve hosting or visiting loved ones. Couples might fear that their guests will not be thrilled to change their long-set Thanksgiving plans to go to their wedding. Because of that, most couples shy away from holding their wedding on that weekend.
